Literature Text

[The scene then switches to back on the countertop, where Bob and Larry
are still standing. Bob then turns to Larry with a smile on his face.]

Bob: Wow, Larry. That was a great story.

Larry: Why, thanks, Bob.

[Beasley then starts barking from off-screen once again.]

Bob: Beasley's barking again, Larry. You know what that means, right?

Larry: I sure do, Bob. Sounds like Beasley needs to be fed. I'll go do
it right away.

[Larry then hops off-screen so that he could feed Beasley.]

Bob: Good thinking, Larry. I knew that you'd be responsible enough to
take care of Beasley. Anyway, we're over by Qwerty to talk about what
we've learned today.

[The "What Have We Learned Song" then starts up, something which Bob is
not very happy about as he scowls.]

Qwerty: [singing] And so what we have learned
Applies to our lives today
And God has a lot to say
In his book

Bob: Would you please excuse me for a minute, kids?

[Bob then hops off to take care of the song, but before he can get very
far, a rubber bone suddenly flies out from nowhere and hits Bob on the
back of the head preventing him from going even further.]

Bob: Okay, who did that?

Larry: [off-screen] Beasley likes that song too, Bob, and he wants you
to let it play!

[Bob can only sigh in frustration before the song resumes again.]

Qwerty: [singing] You see, we know that
God's word is for everyone
And now that our song is done
We'll take a look

[After the song ends, Bob then smiles again just as Larry hops back to Bob
again after feeding Beasley.]

Larry: Well, Beasley's all fed now, Bob.

Bob: I'm glad to hear that, let's see what Qwerty's got for us today.

Larry: Yeah.

[Qwerty then brings up the bible verse on his computer screen, which is against
a yellow background, with a dark gray text, while surrounded by some images of
baby items, such as a baby bottle, a baby rattle, a teddy bear, and a bib. The
verse reads...]

Larry: "But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for
members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
1 Timothy 5:8"

Bob: Well said, Larry. Now that means that God wants us to be responsible for
everything that we do, whether it's providing for our family or taking responsibility
for what we do. Because when we're not responsible, we're even worse than those that
have sinned or don't believe in the Lord.

Larry: Exactly. In today's story, Jimmy and Jerry Gourd learned that being responsible
has its rewards, and when we're not responsible, that can lead to nasty consequences.
Now I realize that I have to take responsibility for caring for Beasley.

Bob: You said it, Larry. So, Samuel, perhaps it would do Alan really good if you
take responsibility for Speckles and Brownie while he's gone.

Larry: Right, and if stick to your responsibilities and do a good job, then you'll
remember that responsibility is rewarding.

Bob: That's right. We're out of time for today, kids. So always remember, God made
you special...

Larry: And He loves you very much!

Both: Bye!

[Beasley then starts barking once again, but this time, Larry knows what to do to
care for Beasley.]

Larry: I think Beasley wants me to play with him this time, Bob. Wish me luck.

[Larry then hops off-screen after that, leaving Bob all alone as he gives off a
small smile at the camera, before the screen turns black, ending the episode.]
Here's the Countertop Ending for "Two Gourds and a Baby" to conclude the story.

Two Gourds and a Baby

A lesson in Responsibility

----Jimmy and Jerry Gourd live by themselves in Apartment 7-G without a care in the world. Of course, that all changes one day when Laura Carrot stops by and asks them to look after Baby Lou while she and her family are on vacation for a whole week. This puts a huge damper on Jimmy and Jerry's lifestyle because they are not responsible enough to actually have any experience in looking after babies. Can the two Gourd brothers learn to be responsible for Baby Lou? Find out in this humorous tale that teaches kids that Responsibility has its rewards.
